Delicious Recipes For World Food Day 2020

 

For lots of us, this year and the lockdowns that have been put in place all around the globe have meant that we’ve had extra time and opportunity to explore new hobbies. For some this has meant trying a new sport or reading more, but one of the most common ways people have spent time at home has been by getting in to cooking and baking. Banana loafs, brownies and homemade breads have begun to fill Instagram feeds globally since the start of the year, with people getting creative and trying out millions of different recipes in this time.

Every year on October 16th is World Food Day, which was started in 1945 in honour of the date of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945. The day is celebrated widely by many other organizations concerned with food security, including the World Food Programme and the International Fund for Agricultural Development. Therefore, we’ve decided to put together a list of some amazing recipes for you to try in celebration of this day and hopefully add a couple of strings to your culinary bow!

 

Homemade Sausage & Egg McMuffin

You can never beat the original but this iteration of the famous sausage and egg McMuffin from Mob Kitchen gets pretty damn close! This hangover favourite consists of a double patty sausage, melted American cheese served on a classic English breakfast muffin, making it perfect for a lazy Sunday morning.

 

Herbacious Mediterranean Chickpea Salad

Life is all about balance, so this next recipe is perfect for getting in some extra veggies whilst still being delicious in flavour. This super simple Mediterranean chickpea salad is bursting with flavour as it includes fresh herbs, diced red onion, celery, pepper and chickpeas with garlic and lemon to create an amazing meal for you to eat at home or on the go.

 

Wild Alaska Salmon Burger

Nothing beats a good piece of fish and the way this recipe combines this in this teriyaki infused burger is something you’ll want to shout about. With a gorgeous gingery beetroot slaw and the sticky Teriyaki, this burger seriously packs a punch. Why not try some Gin Mayo with this recipe to give it an extra kick?

Freshly baked bread might be one of the best smelling things you can make in your kitchen and this super easy rosemary sourdough focaccia is no different. This bread is perfect for sharing with family and friends as well as dipping in some olive oil or balsamic vinegar. The best thing about this recipe is there’s no kneading or special equipment required!

If you’re a cookie lover this next one is definitely for you! These deep dish cookie bowls are another recipe that boomed in popularity over lockdown and we can definitely see why. With a buttery and crisped cookie layer on top of a melted chocolate centre, served with a scoop of ice cream this dessert treat is top tier.

 

Vegan Banana Bread Donuts

The final item on our World Food Day list is a twist on an absolutely classic baking recipe. These vegan banana bread donuts have an amazing flavour and the texture is exactly what you want in a donut. We’d recommend drizzling some of our Nordic Honey over the top for an extra bit of sweetness!
