In 2018, Eric Armengou and Hugo Rovira founded Haan in their hometown of Barcelona, off the back of a successful fashion distribution brand that they had founded in the decade prior. Their main reason for the creation of Haan was to shake up the personal care market with an exciting new business model that looks to combine social commitment with product design and economic prosperity.
Haan’s portfolio of exciting new self-care products is truly revolutionising how hand sanitizer products are viewed in today’s competitive marketplace. All of their products share the same four unique qualities; ease of use, trendy with a clean and appealing design, being portable and travel friendly and finally no single use with sustainability at the forefront.
Often with hand sanitizer products, users complain that although they perform well at ensuring hands are clean, they can be harsh on their skin and will dry out the skin on their hands. This isn’t the case with Haan, with the hydrating qualities of Haan products helping to set them a part in the marketplace. According to Haan their products “enhance the softness of your hands by using fast-absorbing and non-sticky formula. The triclosan and parabens-free cleaner is naturally formulated with 65% of Ethanol Alcohol and aloe vera, which avoids a drying feeling and leaves your skin moisturized instead”.
But just because they thoroughly hydrate the skin, it doesn’t mean they fall short at ensuring hands are as free from germs as any of the strongest hand sanitizers. Haan products kill 99.9% of viruses and bacteria on the hands, all at the same time as moisturizing the skin anytime and anywhere.
Haan’s current range comes in five fragrances including Dew of Dawn, Wood Night, Sunset Fleur, Citrus Noon and Morning Glory.
ETHICS & SOCIAL COMITTMENT
One of the main reasons Haan was founded was to help working towards ending the world water crisis. Just to give this some context, over 785 million people worldwide currently don’t have access to clean drinking water, and over 1 million people each year will die from water sanitation and hygiene issues. Haan state that “Bringing water to developing communities turns problems into opportunities. Access to safe water lead to improve health conditions, increase school enrolments and foster economic prosperity”.
Haan have committed 20% of their yearly profits to various water charity project in Africa. This amazing commitment means that for every Haan hand sanitizer sold, it provides around 134 litres of clean water for small rural communities across the African continent who previously would not have access to this. So far over 2.31 million litres of water have been provided, with 4 wells built and around 1,417 people benefitting from this amazing scheme.
