This week’s brand profile features one of our most popular brands; Le Chocolat Des Francais! The French gourmet chocolate brand has an amazing product range and a super interesting backstory so find out more below.
 
Brand History
The initial idea for the brand began in September 2004 when two out of three founders (Matthieu and Paul) met at a Parisian art school where they became friends and shared two common interests; illustration and chocolate. A few years later they met the final founder (Vincent) and the Le Chocolat des Francais story began. After their time at school, they went into business together trying to bring together the elements of delicious artisan chocolate, with some of the most unique packaging in the market designed by some incredibly talented illustrators.
Over the next 10 years, the trio perfected their product and by November 2014 it was ready to go to market. The first time the product was available to buy was at the Salon Du Chocolat exhibition in Paris. Their stand included their first 300 chocolate bars which were all fully illustrated, made from 100% natural cocoa butter and made in France. This initial event caught the eyes of everyone in the industry and the brand started to grow from there.
During the years since, the brand has continued to grow at an incredible rate adding new products to their line and continuing to work with more and more artists to design the packaging. They have now worked with over 400 artists including Andre Saraiva, Charlotte Le Bon & Jean Jullien as well as having partnered with worldwide brands like Longchamp and Air France.

Le Chocolat Des Francais was born with one goal in mind; enhance French artisan chocolate. The way they do it is with making the best quality gourmet chocolate you can buy on the market. Although a lot of people think of Switzerland or Belgium when talking about chocolate, not many people know that France was the first country to introduce chocolate to the rest of Europe. LCDF builds on this heritage by using the best ingredients, to get the most authentic taste out of delicious flavours.
Determined to surround themselves with the best French artisans, they have created trusting and genuine relationships with master chocolatiers. All of them have share the same key values: chocolate that is 100% made in France and keeping the respect for traditional methods. They source their cocoa beans directly from Ecuadorian and Peruvian farms which have a reputation for higher quality cocoa beans, an ethical way of working and an in depth know-how for fermentation and drying.
Since their launch in 2014, the brand has launched hundreds of different products and product variations including 80g bars, gift boxes, advent calendars, custom bars, hot chocolate and more.
